Garage Door Springs - Extension Springs

Garage door springs are essential for the opening and closing of garage doors. Extension springs are used with tilt up doors, as they stretch and contract to lift the door up and to put it down. One extension spring is located from each side of the tilt up door, where the tracks are.

These springs are very long, heavy, and quite dangerous, but they are known to be safer and easier to replace than torsion springs. Since these springs are constantly used for heavy-duty work, their efficiency will reduce with time. Homeowners are advised to perform regular routine checks of the whole mechanism of their garage door springs, in order to maintain them in a good working order.
